Sailing has many positive aspects, from the pure non-polluting pleasure of being propelled by the wind to team and character-building. It is also the one recreational activity where men and women of all ages participate and compete as equals. Yet few residents of the cities that comprise the Hampton Roads area know how to sail. The reasons for this are many: opportunity, cost, access, and traditional views of sailing as a "rich man's sport."
The Hampton Roads Community Sailing Center is a non-profit organization, established with a sole goal: to open opportunities for all adults and youth to experience the joy and freedom of sailing.
The Center
has three SAIL HAMPTON ROADS programs designed for specific interest groups:
Youth Sailing
,
Adult Sailing
, and
Adaptive Sailing.
